Asura Technologies Receives Nomination for Prestigious 2018 Intertraffic Innovation Award

Budapest, Hungary – An international jury of transportation experts has announced the nomination of Asura Technologies for the 2018 Intertraffic Amsterdam Innovation Award. Chosen out of more than 60 entries, Asura Technologies is now in the running along with two other companies in the Infrastructure category.

“We are so proud to be nominated,” says Asura CEO Mr. Mate Kiss Gyorgy. “Intertraffic is the biggest traffic technology exhibition in the world, so even to be nominated for the award is a huge achievement.”

The nomination is in recognition of Asura’s recently developed license plate recognition (LPR) software. License plate recognition is a technology that uses optical character recognition on images to read vehicle registration plates. It’s a tool very much in demand by law enforcement, toll booths, parking lots and garages, and even repossession companies.

“We found that LPR solutions are either expensive and not flexible, or too complicated and hard to integrate,” explains Kiss Gyorgy. “Our solution to these problems is the Asura Recognition Unit (ARU for short). With ARU, we have created an easy-to-integrate application that can enable LPR technology in any new or existing traffic or parking data collection system.”

Specifically, ARU is a plug ‘n play solution that enables highly accurate license plate recognition. This sophisticated software is completely camera vendor independent and is notably cost-effective when compared to other LPR solutions currently in existence.

Adam Hill, editor of ITS Magazine commented: “Evolution rather than revolution was a major theme of the entries in the Infrastructure category this year: on display were a number of more refined ways of performing existing tasks, with smart uses of technology.”

The final winners of the Intertraffic Innovation Award will be announced at the opening ceremony of Intertraffic Amsterdam, the world’s largest trade event for the infrastructure, traffic management, safety, parking and smart mobility sectors. The event takes place from March 20th to 23rd, 2018, at RAI Amsterdam.
